Bayer Fund strengthens the communities where Bayer customers and employees live and work. Our primary focus is to address families in under resourced areas within the communities served, with an emphasis on children.
Bayer Fund’s charitable giving strategy has strong alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. We provide support to eligible nonprofit organizations with innovative programs.
Our Focus Areas are:
Food & Nutrition - Supported by 55% of our funding to address malnutrition and hunger alleviation.
Education - Supported by 25% of our funding to advance STEM education.
Community Development - Supported by 20% of our funding to provide youth development and access to basic needs.
Our Program Portfolio includes:
In-House Initiatives – Internally developed and managed programs, including Farm/Rural programs in North America, South America, and Australia; and two employee programs (United Way of Greater St. Louis’ annual campaign and an Employee Matching Gifts Program).
Signature Initiatives – Programs with strategic partners that have shown demonstrated sustainable effectiveness and bear the Bayer Fund or Monsanto Fund name.
Annual Requests for Support – These are new requests for funding from eligible organizations that have programs that are aligned with our focus areas. Projects will be evaluated with prioritization given to achieve the funding targets as outlined above. It is an invitation only process and applications are accepted twice per year.
We support high-quality food & nutrition programs that address malnutrition by helping to ensure access and use of nutritious food. The portfolio includes high-impact programs/projects using a comprehensive, sustainable approach to increase access and use of nutritious foods, striving towards long-term behavior change to address under-nutrition and hunger.
The food & nutrition programs we support target under-served communities, rural communities, and families with children under the age of five.

Provides access to nutritious food to address hunger.
We support high-quality educational programs by nonprofit organizations that enable access to knowledge and empower students and teachers in communities around the world, with a focus on furthering STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) education. This includes, but is not limited to, in-school programs, farmer-training programs, and academic programs that enrich or supplement school programs.
The educational programs we support target grades K-12 and under-served students, and take place during the school day.
Youth Education - All Eligible Geographies
Formal education provided by academic institutions that focuses on the core academic skills of literacy, math, and science
Programs within the formal education system or offered by outside agencies, which provide instructional services or other activities that seek to improve academic performance, assist students to succeed in their studies, or enhance their learning experience
STEM Education - All Eligible Geographies (where applicable)
Programs designed to emphasize science, math, and technical education and skills at every level of K-12 schooling and training
The community development programs we support target grades K-12, under-served students, and under-resourced communities.
Performing Arts - St. Louis, Missouri. U.S.
Programs that support education of young and emerging artists or provide access to live productions of dance, theater, and/or music events
Youth Development - All Eligible Geographies
Programs that take place outside of the regular school day which provide a young person with opportunities to enhance their skills and interests through exposure to STEM or agriculture
Public Safety - International and U.S. sites
Projects in rural and under-resourced areas needing sanitation, access to clean water, public safety, and various other local needs
We work with partners around the world who are passionate about providing sustainable assistance and an improved quality of life to communities in need of better educational opportunities and food choices.
Our grant programs currently support 35 countries across six continents. In the U.S. alone, our programs positively impact people in more than 1,300 counties across 43 states. Grant programs for India and South Africa are driven locally by Bayer's Corporate Social Responsibility teams, consistent with their government guidelines for giving.
